The Bachelors Have Been Announced And Thanks But We Don’t Want It
Let’s not beat around the bush: we all know that The Bachelor franchise is on thin ice. Channel 10 tried to shake things up this year, when they had not one, not two, but three leading Bachelors, and the whole thing flopped hard.
Nobody found love on the show, and tbh, it was all a bit of a snoozefest, even with the presence of a man called ‘Jed’. So, for the next season of The Bachelor, fans have been expecting a big twist to breathe some life into the flatlining reality TV series.
The US announced in May it was making a Golden Bachelor series with boomers looking for love, and just imagine all the drama that Aussie boomers could bring to the table. There were also whispers about Channel 10 picking a First Nations, bisexual, and disabled lead: James Parr, while other fans were calling for the network to bring back The Bachelorette.
Channel 10 has now announced their new leads for The Bachelors, and they’ve seemingly changed… nothing. Yep, they’re sticking with the exact same format that failed so miserably at the beginning of 2023. Godspeed.
Let’s judge meet the leading men of The Bachelors Australia: Wesley Senna Cortes, Ben Waddell and Luke Bateman:
Theology-obsessed Wesley Senna Cortes, from Brazil
So apparently Wesley is a pretty daring guy, because he took a huge risk to come to Australia from Brazil… to study theology? According to Ten, Wesley believes that family is everything, so when it comes to love he doesn’t want to play it safe.
Wesley thinks being on the show is a “huge honour”, and he’s stoked to be able to represent his culture. “It’s not every day that you have such an incredible team helping you find love. I couldn’t be more excited,” Wesley said.
Model and environmentally-conscious suitor Ben Waddell, who has beef with Zac Efron
Ben is set on finding a partner that shares his passion for all things sustainable and environmentally friendly. And, here’s your random fact for the day: he claimed Zac Efron’s show Down to Earth took elements from his own TV pilot, and attempted to expose him on A Current Affair.
The model is looking forward to being on The Bachelors, but thinks it’s “very daunting”. “I’ll be going in with an open mind and open heart to find the girl of my dreams,” Ben said.
Former NRL player Luke Bateman, who loves to write poetry
In what sounds like the start of a Wattpad fanfic, lumberjack Luke is a softie who loves to write “heartfelt poems”. He’s wanting to start a family, and with the success rate of The Bachelor Australia so far, Luke probably has a decent-ish chance.
“This is the opportunity of a lifetime, and I’m feeling all the first date nerves – dialled up to 11,” Luke said. “I’m looking for a partner who I can build and share a life with, a genuine person who makes me laugh and wants to start a family.”
The upcoming season of The Bachelors will be filmed in Victoria this year, but no air date has been confirmed as of yet.
