Krystal Thomas was a fan fave on this season of The Bachelors, never shying away from telling her truth, or putting suitor Felix Von Hofe in his place.

While she and Felix may have started hot and heavy on their first blind date, their connection fizzled over time with Felix being caught up in the infamous Jessica/Damien open relationship love triangle.

Last night’s episode saw Krystal bow out of Felix’s top three, leaving him choosing between Jessica Navin and Abigail Harley, but it wasn’t without drama. While Jessica has told Felix she is looking for a relationship with ‘open communication’ down the line in terms of opening up their relationship, Abigail and Krystal heard different stories, with Jessica admitting she’d still want to keep Damien as a sexual partner in the outside world.

Felix himself has stated numerous times that he is after a monogamous relationship, so keeping Jessica as part of his final two certainly ruffled some feathers.

We spoke to The Bachelors’ voice of reason, Krystal, about her time on the show, the confusing Jessica and Damien dynamic, and whether she thinks Felix really is a changed man.

On her elimination and what she was most upset about:

“I did feel like I had reached a point where it was my time to go. As time went on, I was weighing up the pros and cons as to whether Felix and I would actually work. I was disappointed but mainly by the fact Jessica did get the rose, because we all know she lied to get her way to where she is.”

On Felix’s redemption arc:

“One does hope that he really does take on everything he’s learned from the experience. Whether he’ll carry it into the outside world, I don’t know if he will. Once he goes back into his routine, he’s got all of this attention which he craves, once he gets caught up in that, I think a lot of what he’s learned could go out the window. But we can be hopeful!

“It’s a shame, because [viewers] didn’t get to see how much he had actually grown. He wasn’t as arrogant, he was a lot more open about his feelings and talking on a deeper level. I hope as he gets older, and he goes through relationships, whoever he does end up with, I hope he does show that side to him.”

On regretting not telling Felix about where Jessica really stands:

“That’s my one regret is that I didn’t tell Felix. Looking back on my final episode, I should’ve said ‘By the way, Jessica still wants to see her boyfriend’, when I was next to the taxi.

“I just reached a point in my journey, where… sometimes you just need to let things play out. I think I was just like, ‘I’ll let him figure it out by himself’. But I do regret doing that. My constant battle was if we say something, it looks like we’re doing it intentionally to get into the final two. I feel like Felix would’ve taken it that way, I don’t think he would’ve taken it onboard in a logical way.”

On her thoughts on Damien and Jessica:

“Oh my Goooooood. I couldn’t believe it. They had that moment where they were doing that strange breathing, I was like, ‘what is happening!’ If I was there on that group date, my face would’ve DROPPED.” [Laughs]

“The fact he [Damien] got so much screen time over all the other girls! What is going on here, sir. And he’s back again! I was watching the preview like, how is this man on my screen again?! If I hear the words ‘conscious conversation’ one more time, I can’t, it’s just a lot.”

On Jessica’s non-monogamy:

“And look, all respect to them. She’s within her rights to explore her sexuality, to question monogamy. That is so fine. But when it comes to the detriment of someone else and their own feelings and bringing someone into that situation who does want monogamy, I don’t think that’s fair. It’s frustrating that she doesn’t know what she wants. She wants her cake, she wants to eat it, she wants Damien, she wants Felix. It’s very confusing, she’s confused, and she should just be single, to be honest.

“Felix doesn’t know the full story. She’s framing it as open communication, but she wants an open relationship. They want different things.”

On how she’d rank the Bachelors based on dateability:

“I’d say Thomas [as number one]. He’s so genuine. He had such an aura about him. He’s got great communication skills, he respected all of his girls, and he’s genuinely looking for something longterm.

“I have so much time for Jed: we’d obviously NEVER work. But I love Jed. And Felix would unfortunately be the bottom of the pile. There’s a bit more work for all of us but, Felix, my darling, let’s start with you learning how to make a cup of tea, let’s start with the basics.”

On what she’s learned about herself by being on The Bachelors:

“I’ve always found it hard to be open about my feelings and talk about emotion. I’ve always been that fun, bubbly character. So to have that stripped away at times and be challenged, because it was a challenge, I was learning a lot about what I want from a partner, and what I deserve, and what I need.

“Leaving the experience I realised I know exactly what I want, exactly what I need, I can communicate better. You’re forced to talk about how you feel about someone and be outside of your comfort zone. I’ve learned to let my walls down. She’s ready for a relationship!”

The Bachelors finale week continues tonight at 7:30pm on Channel 10 and 10Play.
