Earlier this year, audiences were obsessed with Inventing Anna, a re-enactment of the crimes of Anna Delvey, a fake socialite who scammed the elites of NYC, and we were lowkey living for it!

And now it looks like the fake influencer vibes are back, but this time in Australian reality TV.

Suzan Mutesi, an Aussie influencer who was booted from the new reality TV show The Challenge, is being accused of fabricating her whole influencer career, and the whole situation is messy AF.

Here’s all the tea surrounding Suzan Mutesi and her influencer career:

Who is Suzan Mutesi?

Since moving from Uganda to Australia, Suzan has built an empire on Instagram by posting pics of travel, beauty, and fashion, however, Suzan has proven to be a woman of many talents.

In 2019, she published two books titled Unapologetically Black: Afro Sisters and Princess Anendha Of Zamikisa: The African Princess.

She has also released a bunch of tracks as a singer, starred in indie movies like Moon Rock For Monday and Ruby’s Choice,  and won the African Australian Icon award in 2012 and 2015.

Suzan appeared in the new Channel 10 series The Challenge but was unfortunately booted off in the first week alongside boxing champ Billy Dib.

What are the rumours?

Suzan’s career as an Instagram influencer was pulled into question by the public after her former friend Jamie Azzopardi jumped on the So Dramatic! Podcast, where he spilled all the tea on Suzan.

Jamie spoke about Suzan’s follower count, speculating that The Challenge contestant bought her followers prior to joining the show. “It fascinates me how she went from 200,000 followers pre-lockdown to 1.2 million and is on a reality TV show where she is representative of influencers,” Azzopardi said.

Azzopardi also alleged to So Dramatic! that Suzan had thrown a drink on him after the pair shared a couple of choice words outside of a Sydney launch party.

The proof?

Azzopardi claimed that the analytic wesbite Social Blade shows that Suzan had ‘bought 75,000 followers’ before Sydney Fashion Week.

Jamie then challenged Suzan to release her official Instagram insights saying, “Just release your insights, and I’ll stop talking. I’ll admit I’m wrong, I don’t do it very often, but I will publicly say I was wrong.”

People have also noticed that her Instagram posts are heavily photoshopped. It’s kinda reminiscent of that whole Aubrey O’Day photoshop situation where the US singer had photoshopped her entire Bali trip.

Fans also noticed a little detail on her Instagram bio, where she wrote#Create A Life You Love”, which may be a hint at her alleged fake it til you make it lifestyle.

Right now Suzan’s account is on private but she posts regularly on her account and her Insta story.

According to The Daily Mail, Suzan has denied all the claims Jamie had made.

“It saddens me to hear such words. These ridiculous claims are sad and pathetic and very childish,” Suzan said.

Suzan’s manager, Max Markson, has responded to these rumours, telling Punkee,

“Suzan has been starring in a major national reality show The Challenge on Channel 10 and has had a stellar career over the past 12 years. Suzan starred alongside Jane Seymour in Ruby’s Choice earlier this year, she is an author with a second book coming out in 2023. She is also a fashion influencer, model, and is hugely popular on social media. Suzan has an enormous fan base, and I’m really proud to be her manager.  Thanks for your recent enquiry about these so called rumours. It’s #fakenews.”
