All The Times TV Shows Dipped Into Musical Performances For The Worse

When TV shows are on for long enough, their content tends to make a pivot towards the strange. An example of this would be the times that scripted dramas and sitcoms turn to musical performances to keep momentum going in the show. There are some shows which do this well and there are others that… Well…  These are the others!

Here Are All The Times TV Shows Dipped Into Musical Performances For The Worse

‘LoveGame’ – Gossip Girl

This might be the worst thing that I have ever seen, ever. Not only do I think so fondly of Gossip Girl but I also think so incredibly fondly of Hilary Duff (you know, after she ended homophobia and all). So when I heard Hilary Duff was going to play a role on this TVdrama, I was excited. And then it happened. And it was awful. Cringe threesome aside, Hilary Duff’s most notable moment in the show is when she sang ‘LoveGame’, off-beat mind you. Please just watch it. But, warning, it’s likely that it’ll live in your head, rent-free, for years to come.

‘Stupid Love’ – Riverdale

Now, it would be unfair to say that Riverdale have “pivoted” towards music because they’ve always done so. The thing with Riverdale is that it’s either a massive hit or a massive miss. And covering this Lady Gaga classic was a miss. Come to think of it, maybe no one should ever cover Lady Gaga. Gaga’s voice, especially in ‘Stupid Love’, is so powerful that Cheryl and the Vixens sound like they’re doing bad karaoke at best in this rendition.

‘How To Save A Life’ – Grey’s Anatomy

In case you didn’t know Grey’s Anatomy has just signed on for its 18th season, meaning the show has been on for at least 17 years. And in that time, you’re bound to make a mistake or two. And let’s just say, the musical episode for this show is a mistake. I urge you to watch this incredibly dramatic rendition of ‘How To Save A Life’ if you’d like to laugh and cry at the same time.

‘Eternal Flame’ – The Vampire Diaries

While we’re on the subject of TV shows that don’t normally engage in singing, let’s talk about The Vampire Diaries. For this moment, we’re gonna cast your mind back to Season 2, Episode 16 where Caroline hops onto the stage to perform The Bangles’ most iconic song, ‘Eternal Flame’. Now, Candice King is lucky she can actually sing, because if she was any worse, this would be 2 minutes of non-stop cringe. But, because she’s quite good, we’ll let this slide as an “OK” moment in musical TV show history.

‘Burn Baby Burn’ One Tree Hill

Call me crazy but when I think of One Tree Hill, I’m usually thinking of the moment that a dog ate Dan’s heart transplant or I’m thinking of just how boring of a lead Lucas Scott was. I’m not thinking of disco. Which is why Mouth and Peyton’s performance of ‘Burn Baby Burn’ in the Halloween episode is just… random. But, hey, it’s not as bad as the other performances on this list, we’ll give it that!

Hunter’s Song for Ginny Ginny & Georgia

I can’t. Picture this: You’ve sent someone a nude and they not only ignore you but they wait to serenade you in front of a crowd singing an original song. Romantic? Well, apparently Ginny thought so because it won her over, in the end. However, if it were me, and you didn’t reply to a nude that I sent you, consider yourself DUMPED. Anyway, he’s not very good at singing, sorry ‘bout it.

Tv show musical performances aside, let’s look at all the tv shows that ruined us.
