King George’s Warning To The ‘Amazing Race’ Celebs That Cross Him
The Amazing Race: Celebrity Edition has kicked off, with teams having meltdowns due to the heat, celebrities dabbling in sabotage, and a whirlwind of chaos. That’s just in Episode 1, so I reckon we’re in for a wild ride.
ICYMI, the show started in India, with host Beau Ryan sending the teams off to complete some tricky challenges in sweltering heat. The celeb teams include the crème de la crème from Australia, including media personality Grant Denyer, Australian Survivor’s King George and Olympic athlete Jana Pittman. They’re competing with their loved ones, and you can find the whole cast list here.
I’ve been curious to know how George Mladenov was going to go on The Amazing Race, because his skillset on Australian Survivor was namely strategic and social. When it comes to TAR, contestants also need to ace the challenges and some can be pretty physical.
He’s already feuding with Jana Pittman after a failed alliance and some sneaky sabotage. I got the tea from King George himself, to see if Jana could be the next to go.
“What got me to the end on Survivor and what works for people each and every day is working together, or cutting a deal at the right time. Nothing made me more frustrated when Jana Pittman agreed to work with my little sister and me, and then led us down a wrong and dirty back alley in India,” he declared.
“So if Jana Pittman is gonna cross King George, she will learn a very swift lesson that anyone that’s crossed me on Australian Survivor has been booted very quickly.”
Ooft. It looks like Jana and her son Cornelis are in for a rough ride.
What does George Mladenov really think of The Amazing Race: Celebrity Edition cast?
I’m pretty sure there’s beef between George and Too Hot To Handle’s Harry Jowsey, as Harry called George “sassy” in an earlier interview. I straight-up asked George if there were any cast members that rubbed him the wrong way, and was thoroughly entertained by his answers.
While he didn’t name names – he used to work in politics – he did take a little dig at the influencers amongst the cast.
“One thing that separates me from a lot of these celebrities is I made my Instagram after I did my first TV show. And I learned a really good lesson from my favourite drag queen Bianca Del Rio. ‘Beauty fades, but dumb, that’s forever’,” he said.

King George also touched on the fact that some contestants were surprised to find out they weren’t able to fly business class, which is extremely Harry-coded. “When I heard some of these other contestants whinging about not flying business class, I told myself, what kind of person watching in the suburbs of Western Sydney gets to fly business class on a day-to-day basis?” he added.
“I’ve been through one of the toughest games you can possibly play in the world in Australian Survivor, and I’ve done it for 94 days.”
What’s George Mladenov’s strategy when it comes to winning The Amazing Race: Celebrity Edition?
Even though George came out with the zinger about influencers, he’s still focused on taking home the grand prize for his chosen charity. That means he’s definitely not writing any of his competitors off just yet.
“I am not going to underestimate any team. What I’m not going to do and what Pam isn’t going to do is take a situation for granted,” he explained. “We are going out there on this race, not only to do the best, but to make the right decision at the right time.”
“When people get uncomfortable, when people get tired, they make mistakes, and I don’t. And I’m gonna leverage every single advantage I can on this race.”
Will George and Pam struggle during The Amazing Race: Celebrity Edition?
Seeing George bicker with his sister Pam in Episode 1 honestly had me in stitches. My fave part was when poor Pam declared she was about to vomit and George basically told her to vomit so she could get over it and they could continue racing.
It’s the type of mentality that got him far in Australian Survivor, but as part of a tight-knit team, with a sibling, that could cause some problems throughout the race.
“I’ve starved in the Outback, I’ve baked in the sun of Samoa and I’ve done it on minimal food, minimal sleep, minimal energy, and I’ve made the right decision each and every time. But Pam hasn’t done that,” he told me.
“One of the difficulties that I’m going to have is how can I transplant my Survivor mentality onto my sister Pam.”
If George and Pam iron out some of the kinks, they could be real contenders.
The Amazing Race: Celebrity Edition airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays on Channel 10.
