UPDATE 2.30pm 14/6/23: Laura has responded to Punkee asserting there’s no truth in the reports that she was looking to host FBoy Island. Here’s her quote: “The story is completely made up. I was never considered for the show. I never submitted a sizzle reel.”

Some major tea about The Bachelor’s Laura Byrne has just come to light, and it’s blowing my mind. The podcast and radio host is set to appear on Dancing With The Stars later this year, but there’s another show she apparently wanted to join.

According to reports by So Dramatic!, the reality star auditioned to be the host of FBoy Island, but lost out to Abbie Chatfield. Why is this info so intriguing? Well, ICYMI, there was a whole lot of d-r-a-m-a that went down last year between Abbie, Laura and her bestie Brittany Hockley

Let’s recap: it all started when Brittany filled in for Jackie ‘O’ Henderson on the Kyle and Jackie O Show, when Kyle Sandilands made some slut shamey comments about Abbie. Considering Kyle’s entire radio persona revolves around him being a shock jock, this wasn’t too surprising.

However, listeners (and Abbie) were unhappy to hear Brittany laugh off Kyle’s remarks and add commentary, instead of calling him out on his behaviour. (In a later statement, Brittany said that she “wasn’t comfortable” during the segment, and by “saying as little as possible”, it wouldn’t add any “fire to the situation”.) Abbie addressed the radio segment on her It’s A Lot podcast, saying that “pick me girls” like Brittany were part of the problem.

Anyway, Abbie refused to accept Brittany’s apology, and then Laura waded into the conversation. Here’s where it gets interesting: Laura used Abbie’s hosting role to highlight her “hypocrisy” during her feud.

“Announced that they are hosting FBoy Island. A show that encourages men to lie to women and manipulate their emotions in order to win a cash prize. That is enough internet for me today,” Laura wrote at the time. She also declared that she would “never associate” with the franchise since she’s a feminist. Hmmm.

Fast forward to today, where an FBoy Island insider spilled about Laura’s apparent audition for the reality show.

“Laura Byrne was also in the running, but lost out to Abbie. Abbie was more suited with the age demographic being a younger audience. Not to mention she’s single so she can relate to what the contestants on the show are going through,” the source told So Dramatic!.

“[Laura] isn’t as big of a drawcard as Abbie, and wouldn’t have brought the audience with her that Abbie does…she’s much better suited on Dancing With The Stars.”

Ooft, that’s a lot to take in. Whether these ‘reports’ can be verified as fact or not, it’ll be interesting to see if or how Laura responds.

Punkee has reached out to Laura for comment.
