The 10 Wildest Revelations From ‘Love Is Blind: After The Altar’ Season 2
Another season of reality TV’s most hectic dating experiment has wrapped up with Love Is Blind: After The Altar dropping its Season 2 episodes.
The three-part instalment reunited (most of) the contestants from the early 2022 season, which ended in two couples getting officially married. Sadly, both couples — Iyanna and Jarrette, along with Danielle and Nick — have both since filed for divorce.
The reunion episodes were filmed while the couples were still together which makes for an awkward watch, especially as one of the pairs already appears to be at breaking point.
But as two relationships are about to end, thankfully a new relationship has bloomed between two of the contestants: Deepti and Kyle. These two participants were originally engaged to two of the most scandalous participants ever in Season 2: Shake and the always chaotic, Shaina.
The new episodes gave updates on all the contestants lives in the lead-up to Natalie’s 30th birthday getaway, with the entire crew reuniting for a messy ’80s-themed party — minus Shayne and Shake.
So what exactly went down on After The Altar? Let’s recap all the new developments and, of course, all the drama!
FYI: This post (obviously) contains major Love Is Blind spoilers.
Here are all the wildest revelations from Love Is Blind: After The Altar.
1. Shayne and Shania are now mates while Natalie and Shayne have been on/off since Season 2 ended.
In the first of the three episodes, we learn Shayne and Shaina are now good friends who appear to hang out often. At the same time, Natalie is no longer speaking to Shayne. He says that since the season wrapped, the former flames have been “re-engaged, un-engaged, on-and-off,” before Natalie finally pulled the plug on their relationship for good.
2. Natalie reckons she finally dumped Shayne over some suss DMs between him and Shaina.
Natalie chose chaos this reunion! She revealed that the underlying reason she ended her relationship with Shayne was because of a lack of trust. Natalie claims she saw “flirtatious messages” between Shayne and Shaina. In the messages, Natalie claims that the costars joked about their hypothetical sex life and what would happen if they ended up together.
Shaina and Shayne deny their DMs crossed any romantic lines. “When it comes to Natalie, if I blinked at Shaina, it would be scandalous,” Shayne said in response.
However, Natalie maintains something went down between them. “I think she was in a secret relationship with Shayne,” Natalie said at her ’80s-themed party. “In my eyes, she was the other woman.”
3. Shake was a no show.
Season 2’s most controversial participant, Shake — you know that gronk who body-shamed and demeaned his perfect angel fiancé Deepti — did not appear throughout the reunion. Huge bummer! Danielle revealed that she wasn’t planning on inviting him to Natalie’s party, to which Nick replied, “If he’s going, I’m not going.”
So, what happened with Shake? He’s now claiming that Love Is Blind producers had approached him to come back on the reality show but he declined. “Honestly, they begged me to be on it,” he told TMZ. “They wanted me to speak with Deepti one on one. They wanted to see some kind of reconciliation. But after how they portrayed me… I want nothing to do with them.”
The feeling is mutual, my dude.
4. Deepti and Kyle have started dating.
In much more interesting news, Deepti and Shaina’s ex Kyle spend most of the three episodes toiling with the idea of whether they should start officially dating. If you’re thinking: wait, when did these two become a thing? Then same. Apparently, sparks began to fly at the Season 2 reunion after Kyle confessed that he regretted not proposing to Deepti in the pods.
Since then, the two started a “situationship,” as Deepti described and while they spent every day together and spoke frequently, they hadn’t been physically intimate yet out of concern they could ruin their friendship. But by the end of After The Altar, they decided to start dating officially as boyfriend/girlfriend, finally having a cheeky smooch.
“Eventually, I want him to be my husband,” Deepti said. Our girl ain’t messing around and we hope Kyle treats her like the goddamn queen that she is.
5. Iyanna had already moved out before she even confirmed divorce from Jarrette.
Grim! While we know these two are headed for divorce, the red flags were already abundant throughout the reunion. After growing tired of Jarrette partying until 7am most nights, Iyanna decided to move out of their shared home. “I don’t want to live there because it bothers me to have to sit there for hours and hours waiting for him to come home,” Iyanna said.
This will be nothing fans haven’t heard before, as it was an issue between the couple on Season 2 with Iyanna tired of Jarrette’s heavy partying ways. “We have to have the same conversation over and over again,” she said on After The Altar. “He’s immature.”
Iyanna and Jarrette did appear to be on better terms by the end of the reunion, but unfortunately, we all know how it turned out in the end.
6. Danielle and Nick seem to be… fine?
Unlike Iyanna and Jarrett, despite their impending divorce Danielle and Nick don’t encounter much relationship drama throughout the reunion. But they’re still a terrible couple, with Danielle force-feeding Nick in an attempt to broaden his food horizons while they argue over which of them is more adventurous.
7. Shaina got engaged… in time for Natalie’s birthday party.
Shaina begins the reunion dating older Greek man, Christos, and by the time her nemesis Natalie’s birthday party rolls around, she’s already gotten engaged. Fancy that!
8. Sal has a new girlfriend. She’s A LOT.
Sal rocks up to Natalie’s ’80s b’day with new girlfriend, Jessi. Meanwhile, his ex Mallory is still single and reveals she’s started going to therapy. We love that for her.
The reunion truly hams up the awkward vibes between exes Sal and Mallory, who have barely spoken since Sal dumped Mallory at the altar. As Sal and Jessi arrive at the winter getaway, Mallory says she feels “fucking uncomfortable” before Jessi and Sal attempt to clear the air with her. It’s very awkward, with Jessi somehow thinking it’s appropriate to tell Mallory that she never felt threatened by her, as Mallory nods and smiles.
“You guys didn’t have to say anything,” she told the couple after the weird encounter. I feel for her.
By the end of the three episodes, Sal has announced he plans on proposing to Jessi, showing his sisters an engagement ring he’s already purchased.
9. Sal made some weird allegations against his ex, Mallory.
In perhaps the most unnecessary scene in the whole three-part reunion, Sal took the chance to tell a story about Mallory that had very little to do with anything. After telling his sisters Daisy and Victoria that he planned to propose to Jessi, he randomly told them that he had been harbouring a secret about Mallory that caused a rift in their relationship when they were engaged.
Sal said that a week before their wedding, the two had plans to go shopping but Mallory flaked on him. “I didn’t hear from her for two hours,” he recalled. Sal then claims when he returned home that Mallory appeared to be intoxicated and was in a car with another man. “Mallory’s in there with some random guy, drunk,” he said.
Errr, OK! At the end of the reunion, Mallory was asked about Sal’s version of events and she denied standing up Sal and clarified that the guy in the car was just a good friend.
Hey Sal, none of this information needed to be shared. Let Mallory live her life without your judgements. Please stick to playing the ukulele and singing without any prompting.
10. Shayne now wears a headband that looks like this.
And he’s quit dating to move to Panama. Sure!
