See The Now-Deleted Message Ellie Sent Ben After Their MAFS Breakup

Let me remind you of the worst-kept secret in Married At First Sight.

While contestants are usually hidden away during the show airing to prevent any spoilers, this year things went a bit rogue and paparazzi have been ‘exposing’ who is actually left together after final vows.

One of those pap shots showed an actual real-life wife swap situation, as Jono (who married Lauren on the show) and Ellie (who married Ben on the show) were spotted making out on the beach. So that meant that we knew Jono and Lauren were toast, as well as Ben and Ellie. But if you’ve been watching each and every episode, then you know that they weren’t the happiest pair.

Right from their wedding day, Ben was accused of being fake and signing up to MAFS to get famous and promote his podcast. Then they moved into the MAFS flats and seemed super distant, with Ben having a proper freak out about Ellie wanting kids – something she’s been transparent about from the start.

Ben tried to make amends by writing the worst song in the history of music that now lives in my head rent-free.

Then a shocking moment happened off camera. Despite Ben claiming he wanted to fix things with Ellie, he decided that writing a list of all the things that he didn’t like about Ellie and reading them out to her was a great strategy to make everything better. Narrator: It did not make everything better, and in fact made Ellie, rightfully, very sad.

The couple still went to the next dinner party (albeit, separately), and Ben thought this would be a grand opportunity to break up with Ellie. At the dinner table. In front of everyone.

So we know that Ben and Ellie aren’t in a good spot, and I honestly thought that this episode would be the last I saw of them, but the previews show that they’re heading back to the commitment ceremony couch for one last hurrah. John Aiken will be chuffed.

Skipping forward to real-time (as MAFS finished filming months ago), we know that both Ben and Ellie have moved on to new partners and are very much not romantically intertwined. But that hasn’t stopped the drama from dancing around them.

Firstly the ‘list’ of everything that Ben didn’t like about Ellie was leaked and now a since-deleted message that Ellie sent Ben on Facebook has gone public. The reason for her message was because Ben had changed his profile picture to one of him with his new girlfriend, Aileen. And yes, this is all feeling very 2008, isn’t it?

Anywho, here’s what was said.

“Dear Ben, ‘Ellie breaks her silence’,” the since-deleted message from Ellie begins.

“Did you forget we were friends on here buddy? Classic. I actually heard from Timothy you were seeing Aileen before you went on MAFS (you told him at lunch when you were in Melbourne) talk about the pot calling the kettle black.”

“Everything you did and said to me was conveniently off camera and then production would come in our apartment and you’d turn on the ‘act’. As for saying I was messaging another husband the entire experiment, again, more lies. You know it, I know it, the entire bloody cast knows it. The truth will come out,” she continued.

“It’s not a bad edit, it’s a mirror being held up and for once take some accountability for your behaviour.”

Within the message, Ellie also questioned the ‘leaked list’, implying that Ben leaked it himself to So Dramatic! and that it wasn’t the original list but instead a watered-down version to make him look better.

Perhaps my favourite part of the entire message is the ending. Ellie closed off her comment with the line: “Accept that you look like a bit of c*nt on tele, and it’ll blow over. Best, Ellie.”

Slow clapping for Ellie. Always.
