MAFS 2024: Is Groom Ben Just Looking For Fame? All The Evidence Says… Yup
A MAFS bride or groom being accused of wanting fame? SHOCKING, I KNOW. But seriously guys, there are some pretty spicy allegations against the new Married At First Sight groom, Ben, and I need to get to the bottom of them.
During his wedding, his bride’s cousin, Jordan, had one eyebrow raised the entire time. He was convinced that Ben had ulterior motives because of his career as a tour guide and a podcaster and so took him for a little chat during the reception. But that conversation didn’t settle any nerves.

You see, Ben kinda sorta admitted to applying for MAFS a number of times, even getting really close and chatting to the ‘experts’ for the 2021 season. This news pissed off Jordan because it confirmed, to him, that Ben was just in it for the fame – not because he was genuinely interested in falling in love with Jordan’s cousin, Ellie.
And I’m sorry if you’re reading this Jordan, but things are about to get a lot worse. Because So Dramatic has uncovered that MAFS wasn’t the only show that darling Ben had applied for.
“Ben Walters was actually cast as the lead on The Bachelors for the 2023 season. According to our insiders, Ben was dropped at the last minute, leaving him without a reality TV gig,” So Dramatic reports.
But because he has been “trying to get on MAFS for three years” (which adds up with what he told Jordan) producers had him on speed dial for this season of the show.

While there’s no confirmation as to why Ben was dumped as a potential Bachelor, sources spoke to So Dramatic at the time claiming he’d been “telling people that MAFS producers are back in touch with him for this [upcoming] season”, given he’s applied for the marriage experiment “multiple times”.
Ben also has some pretty close mates in the Married At First Sight circle, sharing a bunch of pics with two-time bride Lizzie Sobinoff. You’d think hearing directly from her how shocking it can be to be a contestant on MAFS would have spooked him, but alas, he’s here on our screens as a 2024 groom.

Beyond the application awkwardness, there’s the whole podcast of it all.
The fact that Ben does have a platform to promote makes me dubious that he’s interested exclusively in love, but TBH I thought exactly the same of Bryce (who came with his own other issues, I know!). And Bryce, if you’ve been following along at home, is still with his MAFS bride, Melissa, and the two went on to have twins and a seemingly happy life together.
So perhaps it’s just an awkward coincidence and Ben has applied for the show thinking it will nab him some clout and he happens to fall in love with Ellie and live happily ever after. Two things can be true at once, people!
I certainly hope this is the case, because his bride Ellie seems super lovely and I don’t want her heart to be crushed and because I just booked their wedding venue for my own nuptials and I don’t want to get the ick there because Ben’s a douche. Damnit.
