Evelyn And Duncan Spilled Major Tea About Each Other During ‘MAFS’ Interview
Genetically blessed couple Evelyn Ellis and Duncan James are still going strong, and we love to see it. The pair parted ways with their Married at First Sight matches (Rupert Bugden and Alyssa Barmonde) during Final Vows, and they’re excruciatingly cute together.
And while we all saw their chemistry during the couple swap episode, where Evelyn and Duncan lived together for three days, they swear nothing happened until after the show started airing. Well… that’s if “nothing” includes bonding over wines into the early morning, and Evelyn getting Duncan to strip for a sexy photoshoot. (Can we please request another one of these? Asking for a friend.)
The insanely hot couple have been indulging in some PDA on Instagram, but there have been some whispers about their romance being a publicity stunt. The pair visited Punkee to chat about how serious their relationship is getting, and I’m convinced they’re the real deal.
If you’re still doubting their chemistry, just know that Evelyn offered to clip a microphone to Duncan’s nipple and said he should do the interview topless.
Anyway, during our chat, the couple debated over who made the first move and exposed some pretty big secrets. I’m talking Duncan’s hidden talent, Evelyn’s “weird” experience with Duncan’s sister, and what reality show they’re eyeing up next. Grab some popcorn and settle in, it’s gonna get juicy.

On who made the first move:
Evelyn: We have debated this topic quite a few times. Duncan seems to think I made the first move, but I’m adamant that he definitely did.
Duncan: It depends what you think the first move is? Evelyn asked me to come to her viewing party. Is that a move? But obviously, on the night that we hung out together where there was a little bit more than just friendship, that was definitely me making the move.
Evelyn: There you go.

On who kissed who first:
Duncan: I think two people kiss each other.
Evelyn: Babe, just say you kissed me first. It’s okay, just say it.
Duncan: She wasn’t running away. But it’d be pretty weird if you were kissing someone and they weren’t kissing you back.
On what they love about each other:
(Note: Prepare to swoon.)
Duncan: I think everyone watching the show saw the Power Lady that Evelyn is. And a lot of women have resonated with that and have loved that she stood up for the girls and had her heart on her sleeve. That is definitely Evelyn, but there’s definitely other sides as well.
There’s a very soft, dorky, funny side who takes the mickey out of herself all the time. People might think that she’s high maintenance, because she wore very lovely gowns and her hair and makeup was immaculate on the show. But there’s the other side of Ev who goes down and gets the milk, and stays in her pyjamas all day. So getting to see both sides of that, and how funny Evelyn is – they’re the parts that I like the most about her.
Evelyn: Obviously on the show we saw this very emotionally intelligent and confident side of Duncan, but he’s actually a bit of a dork at heart. And I think once we both discovered the inner dorkiness in each other, we were like, okay, we like this. This is nice.
On the strange way Evelyn met Duncan’s sister:
Evelyn: So there’s one way to meet the family of your significant other, and obviously in true Evelyn and Duncan form, we didn’t do it the traditional way. I filmed a little segment on Getaway and the first time that I met Duncan’s sister was with a full camera crew eating Korean BBQ.
Duncan: Yeah, just thought it was a great way to break the ice. My sister and my girlfriend, introducing them with lighting, sound and producers. I’m sure we’ll meet each other’s other extended family very soon.
Evelyn: I think the first thing I said to your sister Renee was, ‘Holy shit, you look like Duncan with long hair’, and she just cracked up.
Duncan: I guess our families have already seen us together anyway, right? It’s so weird. We had three days together on the experiment and we did a photo shoot. So our families probably already think that they know us. It’ll be interesting when we meet each other’s parents.
Evelyn: It’s really a weird concept to date someone and have their family already think that they know you, or have seen you on the same show as their son. And then the day when I do meet Duncan’s parents it’ll be like, ‘Hey, I’m Evelyn, you know, from the experiment’.
On Duncan’s childhood secret:
Duncan: I’ll overshare. Some people might think I can’t shut up, some people might think I’m articulate from MAFS. But up until I was about four years old, I couldn’t speak very well. I actually went to speech therapy. That’s probably something that not many too many people know about me.
On which reality TV shows they want to go on next:
Duncan: We were thinking The Block.
Evelyn: We really want to do that. Hey Channel Nine, if you read this, we really want to do The Block.
Duncan: I’m handy with a hammer. And you’re good at bossing men around. So put those two together, you can build a house. (Side note: Duncan dressed as a tradie? Yes, yes, yes.)
Duncan: The Amazing Race would also be great. I’d be carrying Ev’s backpack and mine.
Evelyn: I’d be the strategic smart one that would get shit done. You’d be the one that could run for a very long time with stuff on your back.
Duncan: We’d never have an argument on The Amazing Race.
Evelyn: No, not at all. No.
On Duncan’s hidden talent:
Duncan: I played every sport under the sun, did a bit of dancing. I don’t know if anyone knew that one?
Evelyn: I was gonna say Duncan’s a fantastic dancer. If you ask him to break it down anywhere, anytime this man has got the moves.
Duncan: I wouldn’t say I’ve got the moves. I would just say, the effort’s there. So I bring the effort, just not the skill. I did dancing for 10 years before I started playing rugby, and I was like, what better way to transition from one sport to another… dancing into rugby.
Evelyn: Have you seen Billy Elliot?
On Duncan’s sexy photo shoot take two:
Evelyn: So I’m not gonna lie to you guys, we’ve been doing a lot of photo shoots lately. More conservative ones with a bit more clothing on.
Duncan: Yeah, I kept my shirt on and wasn’t in my underpants, but there’s plenty of time for all of those types of photo shoots. Not those types of photo shoots that turn into something like an OnlyFans. That ain’t happening. But I’m sure there’ll be other types of photo shoots in the future.
Don’t mind us, we’ll just be over here patiently (or not so patiently) waiting for Duncan’s next sexy photo shoot…
