We’re back for another night of Married at First Sight mayhem, and yes, Bryce is still around and saying things that he should not.

Tonight’s commitment ceremony was actually rather groundbreaking, with expert John finally calling out one of the contestants for gaslighting. Sadly, Bryce wasn’t on the other end of the grilling but we reckon his time will come.

Instead it was James who was told that he was showing gaslighting behaviour in the way he treated his wife, Jo. This week we watched as James said time and time again that he was willing to give their relationship another try, before disappearing without explanation. When Jo asked him about it, every time he turned the blame onto her, trying to make Jo think that she was the problem. Tonight, Jo stood up for herself, interrupting James when he was spinning stories to the experts, telling him, “You are full of shit, please stop your shit.” It was EPIC.

One couple who have hit their first major roadblock is Alana and Jason, whose steamy romance has seemingly fizzled out. Jason told the experts tonight that he doesn’t feel a spark anymore, and you could pinpoint the moment when Alana’s heart was smashed into pieces. We hope those two crazy kids get their shit together, because in light of the news dropping about Booka and Brett’s ill-fated marriage, they are one of the only couples we could see making it to the end.

Tonight’s messy Married At First Sight commitment ceremony retold via hilarious tweets:

Everyone is still talking about Bryce’s actions at the dinner party. Melissa and Bryce discuss what happened, and even though privately Melissa expressed disappointment over Bryce’s behaviour, she doesn’t voice it in front of Bryce. She later tells Belinda and Jo that she fears conflict and is worried that Bryce will leave her.

Belinda and Patrick are first up on the couch. The experts slam James for labelling Belinda “frigid” and he apologises. After Patrick admits his feelings are growing for Belinda, they both vote to stay.

Booka and Brett, Georgia and Liam, along with Rebecca and Jake, are next on the experts’ couch. They all vote to stay. Alana and Jason follow them, and things are tense between the previously picture perfect couple. Alana says she’s tired of putting in all the effort, while Jason (eventually) admits that his feelings aren’t growing and there’s no spark between them anymore.

In a moment I’d sooner forget, Kerry tells the experts that Johnny has “blue balls” because the couple haven’t had sex yet. Meanwhile, Jaimie and Chris pretend that everything is fine in their relationship and John calls bullshit.

At last, Jo and James sit on the couch. After telling straight-up lies to the experts about the effort he’s put in, Jo calls out James. The experts back her up, telling James that he’s been exhibiting “classic stereotypical gaslighting behaviour.” We are just grateful that unacceptable and toxic actions, like this, have finally been called out for what they are on this show.

Finally, Melissa and Bryce join the experts as they attempt to get to the bottom of the rumour Bryce has a secret girlfriend, as previously alleged by Rebecca at the dinner party. The experts try to get Melissa to open up about how she is really feeling, and she admits that because she is worried Bryce might leave her, she avoids speaking up when she’s upset.
