The ‘MAFS’ Reunion Contestants Ranked By How Much Chaos They Caused
They came, they saw, they conquered. All our fave contestants in Married at First Sight’s history made their grand return for a two-part reunion — and it did not disappoint.
Over Sunday and Monday night, MAFS icons like Martha Kalifatidis, Mike Gunner, Jessika Power, and Troy Delmege came back to their old stomping ground. The first night saw one of the show’s infamous dinner parties take place, while the second episode was a more civilised therapy session with the experts.
While the reunion delivered some drama, not all of the contestants were as messy as they were in their respective MAFS seasons. In fact, some distanced themselves from conflict altogether.
In contrast, contestants like Cyrell Paule and Nasser Sultan got into major confrontations on both night. And tbh, I’m not 100% convinced that Charlene Perera or Ryan Gallagher were even there, as they were barely shown.
It’s clear that a handful of contestants did most of the heavy lifting when it came to providing chaotic TV moments, so we had to rank accordingly.
The Married At First Sight Reunion Contestants Ranked By How Much Chaos They Caused:
17. This Person
Doug? Dave? Dane? Something like that. FYI anyone who posts that banning people from body-shaming others on dating apps is his “freedoms being taken away” does not earn a place on this ranking.
16. Charlene
Where the hell was Charlene?! Not a single “pipe down, Chachi!” was yelled across the dinner table, and she didn’t call out any of the fella’s bad behaviour. That reunion edit did her dirty.
15. Ryan
Speaking of MAFS contestants being MIA, I feel like Ryan’s invitation was truly wasted. Sure, he’s easy on the eyes but Ryan steered clear of any of the drama. Despite his bio referring to himself as a ‘comedian’, we didn’t get a single “Dickhead Dean!” heckle during last night’s proceedings and I feel ripped off.
14. Sarah
Sarah never shies away from drama, but I honestly can’t remember seeing her at all last night.
13. Ashley
Ashley? Where was she??
12. Tracey
Tracey actually provided more drama than I expected. Aside from her issues with her TV husband (Dan?), Tracey was often a background character on her season, but at the dinner party, she truly came for Nasser over his alleged comments about her pregnancy. She did not come to play!
11. Martha

As the reigning queen of MAFS gossip, Martha did not deliver the goods at the reunion. She played it super low-key, and avoided all drama (aka Cyrell) as well as quickly resolving her feud with Jess. That being said, without actually getting involved in any conflict, Martha’s sly comments and facial reactions were still a constant source of joy throughout both episodes.
10. Seb
I didn’t expect much from Seb, as he was known as a gentle giant who often avoided conflict in his season. However, he did step in to back up Lizzie, as she discussed how Sam’s body-shaming had long-lasting effects on her confidence. At this moment, he was the perfect supportive boyfriend, which makes their recent split all the more heartbreaking.
9. Jo
Foxy Jojo was the MVP of the whole reunion. She relived her TV marriage to Sean, watching back how he continued to reject her throughout the experiment, before revealing that since filming she’s found an inner confidence and no longer seeks approval from men. We stan! Jo revealed that she’s currently single, and after working on her relationship with her body over the past three years, she is now ready to find love. “Now that I have the temple under control, the moat door is open,” she actually told the experts. Honestly, an icon.
8. Lizzie

Lizzie can always be relied upon for a killer speech — and last night she didn’t disappoint. She spoke about how despite Sam’s body-shaming happening two years ago, she believes those words will haunt her forever. Reflecting on Sam’s treatment of her, as well as the trolling she received, Lizzie spoke about how she hopes for a kinder future.
7. Ines
Ines was great value. Between calling the Season 5 cast “fucking weirdos”, and revealing she only wants to see Sam to check if “he’s still hot”, Ines can always be relied upon to be brutally honest. Aside from her hilarious commentary, Ines also encouraged Cyrell to throw wine at Jess and this shouldn’t be overlooked. So messy!
6. Michael
Michael came to the reunion with his fight face on — and we lived for it! In the second episode, Michael shared that he was introverted before meeting Martha and that she helped him express himself. And this new attitude was out in full force at the reunion, as he took on Nasser and called him out for being a “troll”.
5. Mike

Mike got A LOT of screen time on last night’s episode. Some might say he didn’t deserve it, but there’s no denying that he did at least own up to the horrific way he treated Heidi during their marriage. The moment was significant for this show, as Mike was rarely held accountable by the experts for gaslighting Heidi during the 2019 season. Let’s hope that by Mike watching his past toxic behaviour, he will learn how to do better by women in the future.
4. Troy
Troy basically held the whole shitshow together. While some contestants might have brought more drama, it was Troy who provided pure chaotic and lol-worthy moments. My personal favourite Troy moment came when Cyrell and Jess were avoiding each other at the cocktail party, as Troy was telling Martha and Michael about a recent parasite he caught. He’s truly like no other MAFS contestant in history and his wacky energy perfectly offset the episodes’ tensest times.
3. Nasser
Ugh. Nasser. I don’t have anything to say about this man, but I can’t deny that he injected plenty of drama into the reunion — whether we like him or not.
2. Jessika
Jess is, arguably, MAFS’ biggest villain. In her season, she was part of a ‘mean girls’ trio, she wastes Mick and Tamara’s time by dating Dan during the experiment, and after all that, she expressed very little remorse, instead acting like a spoilt brat. At the 2019 reunion dinner party, she famously gloated to Martha, “I got what I wanted. I always get what I want.”
You don’t get much more villainous than that.
As we know by now, Jess and Dan famously split after the reunion and then Jess had to face the music — with viewers enraged with her complete lack of respect and empathy for those around her. Whether this was for the cameras or not, on the two-part MAFS reunion, we saw a new Jess. While she was still involved in almost every conflict at the reunion, the way Jess reacted showed how much she’s grown and matured in the past two years.
1. Cyrell
Cyrell, Cyrell, Cyrell. Where do we begin? She came to confront Jessika and she definitely did that. While we were promised another wine-throwing incident, this time it felt notably different and less fun. Cyrell has said that she thinks the negative reaction was based on her race, and there’s no doubt that racial double standards are rife on Australian reality TV.
However, most viewers would probably argue that the difference between the Cyrell/Martha incident and Cyrell/Jess fight is that Martha was provoked — at the time, Cyrell was yelling insults across the table. I’m not excusing Martha’s actions, but she was reacting to Cyrell rather than instigating the conflict. In the case of Jess, she was avoiding Cyrell and kept removing herself from the situation. Even when Jess apologised, Cyrell still wouldn’t back down. It was actually baffling to watch.
Sure, Cyrell gifted us another big MAFS wine-throwing moment, but it didn’t feel warranted or in the spirit of reality TV dramatics — it just felt unnecessarily cruel. Chaotic but cruel.
