The Beef Between Deuxmoi And Taylor Swift’s Publicist, Explained

Real-life Gossip Girl account Deuxmoi has some serious beef with Taylor Swift’s publicist, Tree Paine. I’m not sure why Deuxmoi has decided to die on this particular hill, but all the drama is making for a very juicy read. 

If you’re completely clueless, I’m about to walk you through every single thing that’s happened over the last few days. It all started when Tay Tay’s long-time collaborator and close friend Jack Antonoff revealed that her song ‘You’re Losing Me’ was written on December 5, 2021. 

With lyrics such as “I wouldn’t marry me either” and “How long could we be a sad song / ‘Till we were too far gone to bring back to life?”, fans are convinced the song is about Taylor’s ex Joe Alwyn. The timeline is confusing, with many thinking that Joe and Taylor broke up much earlier than originally thought. 

Deuxmoi claims that Taylor Swift and ex Joe Alwyn were ‘married’ in 2020 or 2021. 

A few days ago, Deuxmoi published an anonymous DM they received about Taylor’s breakup on Instagram. The general gist of the message was that Swifties needed to stop speculating about Taylor’s breakup, saying that while there were cracks in her relationship with Joe, there is “zero proof” that they broke up back in 2021. 

The gossip account added their two cents in, saying that they’re convinced Taylor and Joe tied the knot. “She DID have a ceremony in either 2020 or 2021 in the UK and it was described to me as a ‘marriage’ by more than one person. It was NEVER made legal,” they wrote.

“I will die on this hill! Put it on my tombstone! I have no reason to lie, I could give a shit what she does!!!!! I’m sorry she didn’t tell you guys about it in a song but just because she doesn’t sing about something doesn’t mean it didn’t happen!!!”

Now, there’s always plenty of gossip and rumours flying around when it comes to the world of celebrity, but for some reason, Taylor’s publicist decided that Deuxmoi had gone too far. 

She shared a screenshot of Deuxmoi’s Instagram story on Twitter, and said it was an “insane thing to post”. 

“Enough is enough with these fabricated lies about Taylor from Deuxmoi. There was NEVER a marriage or ceremony of ANY kind. This is an insane thing to post. It’s time for you to be held accountable for the pain and trauma you cause with posts like these,” she wrote.

This is a big deal, because Tree’s last tweet (apart from retweets) was posted in October, 2022, when she shared Taylor’s ‘Anti-Hero’ music video. 

Who is Deuxmoi?

The gossip account now has its own merchandise, podcasts, and a published book called Anon Pls, and HBO Max is turning the book into a TV show. Journalist Brian Feldman supposedly uncovered the identities behind Deuxmoi back in 2022, saying that it “was not difficult to figure out”. 

After doing some digging, he alleged that socialites Melissa Lovallo and Meggie Kempner were running Deuxmoi. The journalist explained that the pair originally set out to run a fashion blog before it turned into what we know today. 

Hailey Bieber also liked a tweet saying that Melissa and Meggie were behind Deuxmoi. This is as close as we’re gonna get to confirmation because Hailey previously said she knew Deuxmoi’s true identity. 

Deuxmoi hits back at Taylor Swift’s publicist while ‘apologising’. 

Deuxmoi then reshared Tree’s tweet on Instagram, with a half-hearted ‘apology’. It’s giving a typical celeb apology of ‘I’m sorry you felt this way’ and feels kinda icky.

“Well I make zero dollars from lying… can publicists say the same?” the gossip account wrote.

The gossip account then appeared to reference a tragic incident where a fan died during one of Taylor’s shows in Brazil. “Also, to relate something that is in reference to something that happened years ago to ‘pain and trauma’ after what just happened seems like a poor choice of words. Either way, I apologise to Taylor.”

Deuxmoi then shared another response from a fan who questioned why Taylor’s PR rep specifically blasted this rumour about Taylor and Joe. “It is so out of character. There are so many rumours always circling about Taylor. Why would Tree shut this one down directly?” they asked.

“The potential of Taylor and Joe having some type of commitment ceremony is not bad publicity. So there has to be reason why Tree would say this now.”

Because it seems like nobody has learned that Tay Tay’s publicist can come for you if you spread rumours, the fan floated two theories: One, Taylor and her new beau Travis Kelce are getting engaged soon, and two, there’s some “evidence” about her ceremony with Joe that may be “leaked” in the future. 

I don’t know about you, but I’m low-key more confused than ever. I have a feeling that Taylor and her PR team are gonna keep their lips sealed for a while.
