Scot From ‘The Bachelorette’ Explains To Us The Meaning Behind His Shit Tattoos
Scot was sent home from The Bachelorette on last night’s ep, after he stripped to his undies during the stand-up group date.
Yes, he panicked, brought up that whole idiom about gaining confidence by imagining your audience naked, then inverted the trope. Good excuse to show Angie his rig (and shit tattoos) though!
He didn’t really have a lot of time on the show to make an impression, although he did trounce the competition at the doggo date, with his pink teammate, Ciarran, and their pooch, Rusty. And he rocked a pig costume with good humour. Then, last night, we also saw Scot get involved with the house drama around Ryan broke the bro-code.
Punkee spoke to Scot about how he cooked it with Angie on the group date, his collection of international tats, and the real story behind the blokes’ beef with Ryan.
Here’s what Scot had to say about his time on The Bachelorette:
On the real reason he was sent home from The Bachelorette – and it wasn’t because of his stand-up
“When we had a bit of a chat before the stand-up, she got pretty deep with me about backing her up with the whole thing with Jess, but you don’t see a lot of it, but the whole thing there. I didn’t respond the best because my focus was on trying to get this skit ready for stand-up, because it was pretty daunting to come and do it on national TV. She said at the cocktail party she was a bit upset that I didn’t respond to a really deep conversation with her. But it’s purely just because I was distracted with what was going on. For me, it wasn’t the right time to have that chat.
“She wanted me to tell her more about how I was feeling about her, and get deeper into that conversation.”
On what his moodboard of leg tattoos mean
“FTB [laughs]. What does that mean? Oh Jesus. FTB means ‘For The Boys’. I got it when I was travelling. All my tattoos are on my legs. They’re all pretty whacked out – they’re all stories and different experiences that I’ve had when I’ve been travelling. They’re almost like my little travelling board of memories. Every single one has its own meaning and its own story behind it.”
On how Ryan never really got along with the other blokes
“[I called him out because of] his attitude towards all of us. Being there, we’re all fighting for Angie, a hundred percent. At the same time, you’ve got to have a level of respect for the people who you’re living with, the other guys in the house. At the end of the day, only one’s gonna end up with her. I’d had enough. Just in life, you should still have respect for the people around you, not kinda bulldoze everyone.
“It’s just the way he came in from his single date, he was just really cocky. There were a number of things that happened in the house, it wasn’t just that one itemised thing there, there was a lot that happened. We’d just never get straight stories out of him, they were all curved. I think the boys had just had enough. We’re all really honest with each other in the house, we’re all very happy for each other when boys would come back with roses, we’d respect them. But he was just on his own level.
“[Even though Timm did the same thing], that’s Timm, he gets away with it [laughs]. Timm will try to take the piss, but he’s still very open with us all in the house –he’d tell us everything he’d ever did. But Ryan, he walked in, we’d say, ‘Did you get a rose?’ ‘Yes.’ That’d be it. There was just nothing. He didn’t even come with a strategy or anything like that, it was just cold.”
On his mum encouraging him to go on The Bachelorette
“I never really had expectations I’d get onto it, only because there are so many people that try to get onto the show. I randomly got a call. It was my mum, funnily enough, who actually pushed me to go and do it.
“[Angie] seemed like a pretty cool chick from what I’d seen so far. I don’t really like a really dolled-up lady, that kind of style, I like more kind of down-to-earth girls.”
On whether he might have made it further if he got the dog date one-on-one time over Ciarran
“Definitely. I didn’t really get the time I needed to tell her who I was and show her my true colours. So that made it hard.
“I had quite a few really good chats with her. Obviously I didn’t get any one-on-one time with her, that kinda sucked, so it’s very hard to get that true connection. We had a lot of good moments and chats in cocktail parties and on group dates and things like that.”
On who might take out this season of The Bachelorette
“I don’t really know, but like Timm is a big threat, Carlin’s a big threat, Ryan’s obviously a big threat now, he seems to be cleaning up on all the dates. You just never know.”
