Here’s Bachelor Tom On How Intruder Ryan Pissed Him Off On Last Night’s Episode

International flight attendant/quiet handsome man Tom was sent home from The Bachelorette last night after getting quite incensed over Ryan’s flouting of the bro code.

Tom failed to impress Angie with his attempt at flying-themed stand-up. His other shot with Angie came during the dog park group date, but he and his yellow friend Timm were pretty atrocious at puppy-wrangling.

Because Tom didn’t score much time with Angie, most of what we saw of him came from the way he related to the other blokes in the mansion. He was always there to defend the bro-code, calm Jamie down, or to lay into Creepy Jess.

On last night’s ep, he fumed about intruder Ryan’s decision to follow up his single rose + date + pash with a cocktail party chat. According to Tom, it was disrespectful to all the blokes who hadn’t spent any time with Angie at all this week — not even one group date.

Punkee spoke to Tom about his beef with Ryan, how he really can be funny, and Timm, the silent assassin.

Here’s what Tom had to say about his time on The Bachelorette:

On why he decided to call out Ryan for breaking the bro-code on last night’s ep

“To put it lightly, he just pissed me off [laughs]. And I just voiced my opinions, because I was like, ‘Mate, you’ve had so much time with her and you’ve just come in. And you had the one-on-one date with her, you’ve got a rose. You had that one-on-one time with her in the group date when you first came in. You had pre-chats with her before you even came in. Mate, just take a little bit of a step back. There’s other dudes in here as well.’ I just thought it was disrespectful, that was it.

“There’s so many of us in there that didn’t really get given much of a chance to be able for her to get to know us.”

On how the guys don’t mind that Timm also went for the single date + cocktail party steal combo

“[Timm’s] a bit sly. He’s a bit cheeky. I think he was smarter than Ryan to be honest with you. We didn’t even know Timm was gone, really. I didn’t even know until I watched that episode he even gave her a kiss. He didn’t say anything about it… But Ryan had way more time with her. I don’t know. Also Ryan just didn’t gel with many people.”

On deciding to apply for The Bachelorette after a few wines

“One reason [to go on The Bachelorette] was to find love and to have an experience. But at the beginning it was sort of like a mate telling me, well why don’t you go try and apply for The Bachelorette? I’d had a few wines and I thought, alright, I’ll just do an application. Basically, I got through. So I saw the opportunity of going on.

“First, I checked to see who it was, because with The Bachelorette we get to see who it is. The girls don’t. I saw it was Angie and I was like I’d love an opportunity to fall in love with her, why not? Why not have the experience and fall in love at the same time and make new friends too?”

On how his connection with the Bachelorette just wasn’t as strong as the others’

“I had really good chats with Angie. I only had time with her at the cocktail parties and at the group dates. Obviously you don’t get much time at the cocktail parties because everyone cuts everyone, and a few people wait to take her away and take longer than others. But every time we got to chat, it was good. It seemed good. But obviously the connection between us wasn’t like what a few of the other boys had.”

On how he probably cooked that comedy group date

“That day I had a feeling [I would leave]. It was the worst I had felt at a cocktail party, because the group date didn’t go that well. You know when you have a gut feeling and you’re not too sure? I wasn’t sure. It was the least confident I was going into a rose ceremony.

“[My stand-up] wasn’t exactly the best, was it? I was pretty terrible. I didn’t exactly get my words out!… I realised I sort of faced a fear of mine a little bit [on the group date]. I wasn’t good at it and I’m not going to do it again.”

On how he just wishes he got a little time to show Angie who he really is

“I felt like she didn’t give me much of a chance, [I needed] more time, do you know what I mean? If you’d just given me more time, you might have actually gotten to see who I truly am. I can be funny without purposely being funny, just in a general conversation, and I have a good sense of humour. Instead of standing up in front of a hundred people, ten cameras in front of you, and purposely being funny and telling jokes that are suitable for a 7.30pm program [laughs].”

On whether Jamie is really as full-on IRL as he is on The Bachelorette

“He’s a very nice guy and his intentions are in the right place. I just think sometimes he can just be a little bit too intense. He wears his heart on his sleeve basically… I just think he gets a little bit intense with his emotions.”

On who he saw as his competition in the house, and who thinks might win Angie’s heart

“Ryan was, is [in with a chance to win]. Carlin, Timm and Ciarran. Those guys I think were who I saw as my biggest threats. I didn’t see Jamie as a threat because he was just too much.

“By watching what I’ve seen, Timm’s going pretty strong. He’s a silent assassin, which I thought he was. By what I’m seeing, I don’t know what happens, but yeah, I think Ciarran has a pretty good go as well. She seems to like him.”
