Silent Type Glenn Says ‘The Bachelorette’ Bro-Code Just Doesn’t Apply To Timm
On last night’s episode, Angie sent home another of the reserved handsome men of The Bachelorette: Glenn with the kind eyes.
He rocked up on the first night with a weird line drawing of Angie, that I assume she took home and immediately set on fire to avoid conjuring evil spirits.
Then… not much happened from there. He was on the dog date, but all we really saw was the dog he and Alex were competing with literally fall off one part of the course.
And he was on this week’s comedy date, but we didn’t see even a second of his stand-up. He was just there.
So, is it fair to call Glenn the silent type, who doesn’t get caught up in the drama? Yes and no.
Punkee spoke to Glenn about his lack of airtime, wtf is going on with Jamie, and standing up for the bro-code.
This is what Glenn had to say about his time on The Bachelorette:
On getting the silent type edit
“I have no problem with [my edit]. I was true to myself. I wasn’t gonna be the guy causing drama or getting involved in drama. I didn’t have a connection [with Angie], and I wasn’t running around the cocktail party causing mayhem. That’s probably why I didn’t get a lot of airtime.”
On getting booted before Jamie and his sea of red flags
“[Jamie’s] a very passionate person, he’s a very intense person. What you don’t see on camera is that he’s a real genuine guy. I think Angie just wanted to explore that further, whereas the connection between me and Angie probably just wasn’t there.
“Like anything, you sort of go on a first date, and then there’s nothing there, you don’t explore it again. You can’t fake that stuff. She was connecting with other guys. Let’s just say I had just as much time as Jamie and Jamie got very caught up in it, whereas I understood where our connection was.
“I know when I really like someone I probably don’t express it like Jamie, but that’s Jamie. He wears his heart on his sleeve. The best thing about Jamie is that that’s him, he owns it. He doesn’t say that he’s not that – he claims that he’s very intense and a stage-five clinger, self-proclaimed.”
On getting involved in the bro-code drama – even if we didn’t see it
“I was very much a part of that bro-code: get everyone early on to have the chats so everyone can establish a connection with Angie. There were guys who were very passionate about it was them and Angie – they sort of segregated themselves.
“There were guys who had been on a single date, like Ryan, who would cut straight in there [at the cocktail parties]. He didn’t care about what guys thought of him, and that’s the way it was. Whereas some guys were being respectful.
“I got involved with trying to tell boys to give everyone a go. When guys would overstep the mark, you’d pull ’em up.”
On how the bro-code just doesn’t apply to Timm
“Timm just does what he wants, let’s be honest. He established the bro-code and upheld it and then broke it. That’s just Timm. Everyone loves him, so he can do no wrong.”
On how blokes talk shit on camera and to the person’s face
“We’re actually really open. You’d go on camera and you’d say some shit about someone, but it would be brought up in the mansion amongst the boys, and it would be all be OK. The rule was if you can’t say it to someone’s face, don’t say it on camera.”
On getting asked via Instagram to go on The Bachelorette
“I got approached on Instagram. I’d never really thought about going on the show. When that seed got planted, I started to think about it more… It’s sort of once in a lifetime. Angie seemed like a really down-to-earth, cool girl. It was like, why not?
“When I found out Angie was the Bachelorette, I didn’t know much about her. I hadn’t watched any of her previous shows. I did a bit of research – you want to find out a bit about her but not too much.”
On the unexpected bloke who might take out The Bachelorette
“Jackson’s the dark horse. From what I saw, he’s a bit younger, but he’s a very genuine guy, a funny guy, and has a connection with Angie.”
