Kristy And Brett’s ‘The Block’ Awful Auction Result Was Apparently Due To Karma

Kristy and Brett are arguably one of the most disliked couples to appear on The Block in recent history – managing to put most of their fellow contestants offside early in the competition, and then blowing up at their only allies Leah and Ash near the end.

There was a healthy dose of karma delivered to the pair when the show came to a close, with Kristy and Brett visibly upset after earning $65,000 profit compared to winners Steph and Gian, who walked away with a total of $1,750,000.

The ‘villains’ took their frustrations out on their real estate agent Sam Inan after the auction, saying he had “shit the bed” and “fucked it up” for House 3 – but an insider has shared another juicy insight.

Why didn’t Adrian Portelli bid on Kristy and Brett’s house?

Flashy buyer Adrian Portelli, who is also known as Mr Lambo, snapped up three properties on the night. Steph and Gian and Eliza and Liberty walked away as millionaires, and Kyle and Leslie pocketed a cool $130,000. So why didn’t he bid on Kristy and Brett’s house?

According to Yahoo! Lifestyle, a source overheard Adrian saying he was “never going to bid on House 3 because of the public’s perception of Kristy and Brett”.

“People were loudly and openly discussing why he was not bidding, as the auction dragged on for over 20 minutes longer than the first two auctions,” the insider said. “The overall opinion of the producers was that personalities and behaviour has never affected the auction results. However, Adrian revealing this to Danny Wallis’ assistant after House 3’s auction was pretty telling.”

The publication added that their source asked Adrian directly if what they had overheard was true, and here’s where it gets messy. Apparently, Adrian denied the rumour, saying that he simply chose to not purchase all five houses, in case he received backlash from viewers.

If you cast your mind back to 2022 (I know, that seems like a million years ago), his winning bid for Omar and Oz’s property sparked cheating rumours, so he likely didn’t want to attract negative publicity.

Has Executive Producer Julian Cress commented on the rumours?

The sneaky insider went directly to head honcho Julian Cress to press him on if there was any truth to this whole mess, but he shut them down instantly.

“If you overheard something in the street I don’t want to make a comment on that,” the Executive Producer said.

This comes after Julian showed empathy for Kristy and Brett, calling them “two of the best contestants” that have ever competed on the show. “I feel terrible for them that they had to go through that, after just watching their neighbours make a million plus. For them to make $65,000 is pretty heartbreaking,” he said.
